It’s been in the news lately that Tim Burton is in talks with Warner Brothers to direct a live action movie of Pinocchio. And it looks like Robert Downey Jr. *might* play Geppeto. The script is being written by Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls) – and if you’re a fan of those three shows like me, you might just be hopeful for a great film. Don’t let us down guys.
AND while doing research on the Burton film, I learned that Guillermo del Toro has announced that he’s directing an adaptation of Pinocchio as well – except his will be stop-motion animation, working with the Jim Henson Company. Slated for release in 2014. Lisa Henson is quoted saying “Stop-motion animation will be a new style of telling this well-known tale, a hand-crafted style with which we were eager to work since it requires a high level of artistry and craftsmanship that is similar to the work of The Jim Henson Company,”
Both films sound like they have potential for greatness.
