Since 1990, Puppeteers of America has exclusively offered the opportunity to purchase General Liability Insurance at annual rates well below the countrywide average.
This policy provides the performing company or regional puppet guild $1,000,000 in General Liability Insurance, which protects the puppeteer from liability claims arising from bodily injury or property damage to third parties while performing or assembling at various venues. This policy does not provide coverage to the participants.
Both members and non-members can purchase this insurance though the Puppeteers of America, however, members may enroll at a significant discount!
Coverage is provided from October 6th through October 5th of each year. The annual premiums are as follows:
- Members $350.00
- Non Members $600.00
*All certificates of insurance are included in the above cost.
THIS YEAR: The Puppeteers of America is also endorsing a General Liability program through the National Association of Mobile Entertainers (N.A.M.E) administered by Brown & Brown Ins. Benefits of membership in N.A.M.E. include:
- Specific effective & expiration dates to meet your needs
- Optional Equipment coverage can be added
- Additional Membership Benefits
- Quality insurance coverage at lowest possible cost
For Specifics on the N.A.M.E. program & membership, please contact Joel Goodman at the following:

Either program will provide you with quality General Liability coverage to meet your individual insurance needs.
WHY BUY DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS LIABILITY COVERAGE FOR NON-PROFITS?
Nonprofit Directors and Officer Boards can be sued by donors, employees (prospective, current, or former), the general public, third parties, clients, and/or government agencies.
- Directors of non-profit boards have the same fiduciary duties as corporate board members.
- The personal assets of the individual board members are at stake!
- Bylaws of the non-profit may indemnify the board, but it does not guarantee the entity has the resources to fund the cost of a claim.
- The average cost of a D&O policy is often under $1,000 with no retention, yet the average cost of a claim is $100,000.
- The IRS has increased their scrutiny of non-profits.
- Corporate Scandals have heightened regulations of accounting practices.
- D&O claims are not covered under General Liability or any other policy form.
A Directors and Officers policy can ensure financial solvency to the organization and can help protect board members home, investments, or other personal assets! We can now offer Director and Officers coverage nationwide to the Puppeteers of America non-profit puppet companies and guilds at very competitive pricing!
